Hunza is a valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, in the far north of Pakistan, reached by the Karakoram Highway. It is known for its calm villages, terraced fields, apricot and cherry orchards, and high peaks such as Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar and Lady Finger.

The main town, Karimabad, sits above the valley with the 700-year-old Baltit Fort overlooking it. Nearby Altit Fort is even older. Higher up the valley are Attabad Lake, the Passu Cones and the Hussaini Suspension Bridge, and the road continues to the Khunjerab Pass on the border with China.

Hunza is a good choice for families, couples, photographers and first-time visitors to the north. Hotels and restaurants are easy to find, and the people are known for their welcome.
